Encaustic Inspiration

Oak Tree in Wax copy.jpg

Changed it up this post with an encaustic piece I finished yesterday. The image of the oak tree was taken on a walk in the Fountaingrove neighborhood of Santa Rosa. The foundation is Encausticboard; water soluble oil paint and pan pastels added the color. I love the serendipity of doing encaustic painting; you never know just what the wax will do and I love all of the nooks and crannies that you can then fill in with color.

  1. I’m getting a very “Jane Eyre” vibe from this piece :) “I am no bird; and no net ensnares me. I am a free human being with an independent will.”
