Encaustic Inspiration

Oak Tree in Wax copy.jpg

Changed it up this post with an encaustic piece I finished yesterday. The image of the oak tree was taken on a walk in the Fountaingrove neighborhood of Santa Rosa. The foundation is Encausticboard; water soluble oil paint and pan pastels added the color. I love the serendipity of doing encaustic painting; you never know just what the wax will do and I love all of the nooks and crannies that you can then fill in with color.

Oak Tree Series #3

I have enjoyed looking at Kat Sloma’s tree images and have been shooting the oak tree that hangs into my backyard at different times of the day. This was taken this morning; I added a Lightroom preset from Totally Rad, and filters from Tiffen dfx and also from onOne Perfect Effects.
