Another sweet image from the backyard photo shoot with Sherri Reed. A painted texture is the background for this shot.

Texture Tuesday “Yellow”

Here is a shot I took last month in Seattle in the Chihuly garden. A friend said that this piece looks like a Chihuly self-portrait since he has a wild mass of curly hair. I thought it would be good for this week’s “yellow” theme for Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday. I used kk_july-1 for the texture layer, at 15% opacity and a blend mode of Color Dodge.
Memories of Love…

Had a wonderful day taking photos with photographer and friend Sherri Reed. We set up all kinds of vignettes and took the photos outside in my backyard. This piece is nostalgic for me because it contains a few items from my Mom. I used some textures from Design Cuts; http://www.designcuts.com- Flyerphotooverlays5canvas, texture #21; and 2LO Distressed 11. I adjusted the opacity and blend mode on each texture used. The border is from onOne- Emulsion Transfer 2. Creating vignettes in my home and also specifically for a photo shoot are such a joy to create. A perfect day with a like-minded friend!

Simply Chihuly…

A lovely trio of Chihuly glass pieces. This photo was taken in Seattle, WA, at the beautiful Chihuly exhibit. I’ll post more photos of these lovely pieces soon. Thanks again for the lovely day, Mary Beth!!
For Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday, I used kk_simplistic at 21% opacity and a blend mode of Color Burn.
You should have seen the look on the mom’s face when her little boy thought these pedestals were a fun place to climb into!

Life Book 2014 Week 12 Lesson from Finnabair

I enjoyed this week’s lesson so much I decided to create a second piece so that I could actually add it to my Life Book. My first piece was done on canvas, this one I created on 300 pound watercolor paper. I love the textural build-up of the many elements in this technique. I used a vintage image from my digital stash; I liked this woman’s expression. With the month’s theme of Connections, I felt she could represent the connection of women through the ages.
Freebie Vintage Paper Kit
I have a small freebie vintage paper kit that I put together for Design Cuts; http://www.designcuts.com. They have some of the best deals for graphics designers, digital artists, for anyone who loves to create digitally! Here is the link for the freebies: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/designcuts/sherre-hulbert-design-cuts-vintage-textures.zip I created the above piece using several of the freebies from my small kit along with some of Design Cuts Vintage Bundle textures; I also used a photoXpress.com image (female face).
