I found this quote on Goodreads by Dean Koontz and thought it a good one for these organic pears from Gowan’s Fruit and Veggie Stand in Philo, CA. Although a bit bruised and battered, their flavor was delicately fresh and sweet. “A scar is not always a flaw…”
Digitally Fractured
I wanted to play around with my first Fractured angel painting in Photoshop. I had fun adding some textures and design elements using Design Cuts new Vintage Pack, http://www.designcuts.com. I also used a Gelli Plate painting for an overlay over the original painting. It doubles the pleasure of painting when you can then transform them digitally as well. If everyone in the world painted or did something creative, there would be less strife and tragedy.
I have a great idea- why not make warring leaders sit and paint each other’s portraits? Perhaps they would come to better understandings by taking the time to do this. :)
For Those Who Have Suffered…
I created this piece with inspiration from Finnabair’s lesson on Life Book 2014. As the piece developed it reminded me of those women who have lost their hair to cancer and wear scarves and other headgear. I want each of them to remember they are beautiful.

Something Marvelous…
This week’s Texture Tuesday theme is nature. I took this shot a couple of weeks ago at Madrona Manor in Healdsburg as we walked amidst the garden. I used a Lightroom Preset- kk_classicwarm, along with 3 of Kim’s textures- kk_3003-2; kk_weathered; and kk_hello. I used an Aristotle quote with the fonts “Dear Sarah” and “Editor.”

I used Kim’s kk_franklin in two different layers, adding a hue/saturation adjustment to each and also switching the layers to a Soft Light Blend Mode. In between I added a Filter Forge 4 “Soft-focus Amplify” filter. For Kim’s Texture Tuesday. http://www.kimklassen.com
Effortless…
I used two of Kim’s textures, one was “empty page”, the other I have named kk1; I think it’s name got removed when moving files around one time. I also used two of Kim’s Lightroom Presets- Classic Warm 2, and Days of Old. I also added a couple of RadLab filters as well. I am enjoying shooting very simple layouts; I used a scarf I own plus a wheelbarrow that has a found bird nest and a ceramic bird. Effortless composition!
Room to Breathe…
Day 2 of BeStill52, Kim Klassen’s new class encourages us to allow room to breathe, in our photos and in our lives. I used kk_justgolden from her Studio Collection for this photo taken outside in my backyard. Thanks to Sherri Reed for the prop. A great Robert Mondavi quote.
Balboa Park Facade
I took this photo in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. It is part of the front of one of the art museums there. I added two layers of kk_partings at 100%, Multiply Blend Mode, and also a Filter Forge Filter on top of that. This is for Texture Tuesday, the Black & White.
