November’s Songs of Thanks and Praise Series. I found this hymn in a 1956 hymnal. I hadn’t ever sung it before or even heard it in church but this verse stood out to me and I envisioned the image which was then created in Midjourney. “Jesus Took My Burden” is mostly associated with a 1933 version with lyrics by Rev. Johnson Oatman, Jr. Music is such a blessing to a burdened soul.
November’s Songs of Praise and Thanks Series. “No Longer Slaves” by Bethel Music. Written in 2015. So good to remember this verse- “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

November’s Songs of Thanks and Praise Series. Today’s hymn, features one of the verses of “It is Well with my Soul” which was written in 1873 by Horatio G. Spafford.This is a much loved hymn by many. Written by Spafford as he was on his way to meet his wife after she was the only survivor of a shipwreck that took the lives of his 4 daughters. You can find the full story online.
November Praise and Thanks Song Series. Today’s is a bit different but I am grateful for a God Who can heal the unrest of our nation’s cities. Today’s hymn was written by Frank Mason North in 1903 and set to music by Beethoven.

November Series. The lyrics for the hymn “Thank You, Lord” were written by Seth Sykes, with the chorus written in 1940 and the full verses added in 1945. His wife, Bessie Sykes, wrote the music for the hymn. I hadn’t ever seen the verses for this one; our church in Santa Rosa back in the day only ever sang the chorus.

November’s Gratitude and Praise through Song Series. Today’s hymn will get those who have been in churches for years humming along. “At Calvary” written by Wm. R. Newell after a Sunday School class in 1895.
I decided to change up my Gratitude Series a bit for November by using verses from Christian hymns old or new that express thanks or praise. Today’s is in praise of God’s Word. Written in 1867 by William Walsham How. Titled “O Word of God Incarnate.”
