I love how an artist can be inspired by so many different things. This piece was inspired by a Lynne Perella spread in the May/June Somerset Studio magazine. I created texture shapes and added elements and backgrounds from ItKuPilli (Mischief Circus); and Teddi Rutschman (Foxeysquirrel). Titled, “Visionary.”
No text to this piece. It morphed into playing with backgrounds and elements from a variety of digital kits; from ItKuPilli and E-scape and Scrap. Inspired by a piece in the book, “The Collage Ideas Book.”
“Out of the Ashes” is loosely based on AWAKE lesson 2’s video “To the Edge” by Anja De Dobbelaere. As most of you know I lost my home including most of my photographs, paintings, journals, etc in the CA wildfires in October. From the photos I had on my iPhone, I used a photo from my trip to Italy, an image taken at the Oscar de la Renta show in San Francisco, and even a photo of the fire debris of what was left of my home. Thus the quote by Hiba Fatima Ahmad, “How can you rise, if you have not burned?” I also used some AWAKE content from Jen Maddocks. I like to think of the mannequin as rising out of the ashes to new possibilities.
I love getting the September issues of fashion magazines. It takes me back to my teenage years when becoming a fashion designer was one of my young dreams. This piece was inspired by a Marie Claire feature called “Rare Vintage” in the September issue. The photo was found on Pinterest; a Mary Nolan. Graphics from Gracie Tracy.
Hard to believe I have made 300 of these… Daily Graces #300. I loved this quote by Victor Hugo but my birds are on a fairly sturdy looking fence rather than the fragile boughs as in the quote; but you get the idea I hope!
Book Inscription Series #4. I love how this daughter inscribed Mrs. Wiggs and the Cabbage Patch to her mother in 1902. Had to add a few peaches! More fun graphics from Gracie Tracy Designs (except for the peaches- found those in a Google search).
