The poem is called, “Shade Loving” by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer. You can receive a daily poem from her in your email. Her site is called wordwoman.com. The photograph was taken in Lucca, Italy when I stayed there with a friend on an art trip in 2016.
Brought in the first of the sweet peas. Gardener’s World (BBC) recommends cutting for continued bloom so I happily brought these in and added them to a couple of dahlias that were already in the house. Wish you could smell the fragrance through the screen!
The quote used today is from the book A Painter’s Garden (Cultivating the Creative Life) by Christine Walker. I used to have this book prior to the fire and was thrilled to find another copy of it on Amazon which arrived today. At the time the author wrote the book she was living in Sebastopol, CA, which was close to Santa Rosa where I used to live. The rose tree is in my backyard cottage garden and is called “Sexy Rexy.”
